APPROVAL OF THE DEGREE
Since 2001, the nursing degree is approved directly by the directive 2001/19/CEE. Any nurse from the 15 countries of the European Union may work in any of the countries in the Union under presentation of:

Nurses coming from countries who entered the Union in 2004, come under the order June 10th, 2004, which approves their degree, however in some cases proof of professional experience is required.
Nurses from countries who entered the Union on January 1st 2007, come under the directive 2006-100 which requires five years experience for Rumanian nurses and direct approval for Bulgarian nurses.
Upon arrival in the country, you must go the nearest DASS office to register your degree.

Here are some advice prior to departure
SOCIAL SECURITY
While working in France, you have paid contributions which can be added to those paid in your country of origin or any other European country. In order to validate those contributions, you must request the following two forms from the French administration :
E-301 FORM
This form indicates the period of paid contributions for unemployment allowance.
It can be obtained from the nearest Direction Départementale de Travail.
It will enable you to add the contributions paid in France to those paid in other countries if and when you need to claim unemployment benefit.
You must present this form to the employment service in your country upon return.E-201 FORM
This form indicates the contribution paid for you retirement pension.
It can be obtained from the nearest Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie (CPAM).
It will enable you to add the contributions paid France to those paid in other countries in order to claim your retirement pension when necessary.
WORK CERTIFICATES
Prior to departure, remember to ask your employer for a work certificate. You will need it as a proof of work experience for future employers or to sit state exams.
TO OBTAIN A PERMIT TO PRACTISE EN FRANCE
You will need the following documents :
- A letter in French requesting « a permit to practise the profession of physiotherapist and masseur in France » Click here for a copy of the letter
-Copy of ID card.
-Copy of degree and translation.
-Copy of subjects studied with marks obtained and hours of studies.
-Copy of certificate of work practice.
-copy of compliance certificate certifying that the degree complies with the minimum planned by the European directives.
A translation by a registered translator must be attached to any document in foreign language.

DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO REGISTER WITH FRENCH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
To register with the French Medical Association for Physiotherapist, you will need the following documents :
1º Proof of ID.
2º Copy of your degree with:
- Copy of the compliance certificate delivered by the relevant authority in your country of origin.
- Copy of the documents sent to the French Department for Health when requesting a permit to practise.
- Copy of the permit to practise delivered by the French Department for Health.
3º Copy of your police record less than three month old.
- A sworn statement from the candidates certifying that they have never been subject to any disciplinary actions and that there are no issues pending which could lead to sentencing
- Any documents which demonstrate that the candidates have sufficient knowledge of the French language.
- Three passport photographs.4º A sworn statement certifying that no proceeding which may lead to a condemnation or disciplinary sanction preventing registration with the Medical Association is pending.
